Warm south-western Iberia; chilly eastern Europe


Wednesday
High pressure centred around the Azores, brings settled weather to south-western Europe. Plenty of sunshine for Spain and Portugal, warm toward Andalucia & the Algarve, topping 20C. Some thundery rain over the western Mediterranean, although most of the islands may escape dry. A fine day for Italy and the Balkans, temperatures 13 to 16C in southern Italy, although chillier inland for south-eastern Europe. Chance of a shower for southern Greece, whilst the Aegean islands will be dry, although breezy around western Turkey.
A south-westerly pattern across northern Europe brings generally mild, grey and damp conditions. Fronts extend across northern France & Germany bringing some persistent outbreaks of rain. Southern France stays dry and bright. A few showers for Switzerland & Austria, snow over the mountains. Rain affects the Czech Republic, patchier for Slovakia & Hungary - some snow in the early hours over the Carpathian mountains. Dry toward the Black Sea. 6C in Romania.
Fronts bring heavy rain and mountain snow to western Norway, and arriving in Denmark and south-west Sweden later. Dry for much of Sweden all day. Some snow for Finland, and it will be rather grey, damp and cold around the Baltic states.

Low pressure broadly influences northern Europe, whilst high pressure resides to the south & south-west. Another dry and sunny day for much of Spain and Portugal, warm again in the south-west. Fairly cloudy around the Biscay coast. Further thundery rain for the western Mediterranean, may affect Sardinia and Sicily, but southern France and most of Italy will stay dry. Fair weather across south-eastern Europe, including Greece and Turkey.
A mild westerly pattern continues for northern Europe. Fronts bring outbreaks of rain to northern France, the Low Countries and Germany, some persistent and heavy falls at times, accompanied by blustery winds. Patchy rain for Poland and the Czech Republic. Rain also affects Denmark and coastal areas of southern Norway & Sweden. Brighter toward the Baltic, and less cold then recent times at 4 to 7C. Chilly for Finland, and a zone of rain and snow advances across northern Scandinavia.
