Dry eastern Europe; very cold far north

Friday
Low pressure influences west & north-west Europe, whilst high pressure is to the south-east. Areas of thundery showers affect southern Portugal and south-western Spain, may spread toward the Pyrenees. Warm and dry for south-eastern Spain. Dry across the western Mediterranean, southern France, Italy and the Alps, broken cloud and some sunshine. Showery rain for mainland Greece , and a few scattered showers for the Greek Islands and western Turkey. Dry and warm in Cyprus.
Fairly cloudy for northern-central Europe as fronts are slow moving across the southern North Sea and the Low Countries. Outbreaks of rain in northern France, Belgium and the Netherlands. Cloudy with a little drizzle for northern Germany, but dry toward the south, cool at 8 to 10C.
Blustery winds and persistent rain or showers for southern Scandinavia, turning to snow over the mountains in southern parts of Norway and Sweden. Further north across Scandinavia it will be cold but largely dry, temperatures widely below freezing.

Saturday
Rain develops across much of France in the early hours, as fronts push south, and an area of low pressure forms across central Europe. A wide swathe of wet weather is expected across northern Spain, southern France, the western Alps, and northern Italy - snow over the mountains. Heavy showers for southern Spain and Portugal. Cooler air extends widely across western Europe, although the western Mediterranean remains near or above 20C away from rain. Brighter skies spread across France from the north, leaving scattered showers around Brittany.
High pressure centred around the Black Sea brings dry and mild or warm weather to south-eastern Europe. Cloud and outbreaks of rain or drizzle for Germany and Poland, where it will remain cool. Windy for southern Norway and Sweden, and there will be persistent heavy rain or snow over the mountains. Slow moving showers for Denmark. Northern Scandinavia stays dry and cold, with high pressure centred to the north.
