High pressure will continue to dominate across many northern areas of Europe maintaining mainly dry weather, but with thundery downpours elsewhere
During Tuesday and high pressure extending across much of Scandinavia and down into the British Isles will maintain fine weather with pleasantly warm conditions. A weather front may, however, bring some rain or showers to the far north of Norway and Sweden later in the day. Much of central and southern areas of Europe will have a summer-type weather pattern with plenty of sunshine through the morning but with then some heavy and thundery downpours developing as the day progresses. At the moment parts of France, Switzerland, Italy and also down into Spain and Portugal seem at greatest risk of these and some severe thunderstorms could develop. Warm or very warm across many central and southern areas of Europe, if not hot across more eastern areas, including Greece and Turkey where some thundery downpours may also develop too.
Into Wednesday and not a great deal of change in the weather is forecast. High pressure persists across much of Scandinavia while continuing to influence the weather across the British Isles as well with further dry, settled and warm conditions across more northern areas of Europe in general. Elsewhere and the mixture of sunshine and afternoon thundery downpours are predicted, again primarily focused across parts of France, eastwards into more central areas of Europe, down into Italy and also across Iberia too. Some longer spells of rain may actually develop across Portugal as well through the day in association with low pressure just to the west. Warm or very warm for much of Europe, but particularly hot across more eastern areas of the Med including Greece, Turkey and surrounding countries.
