Breezy with some rain across Scandinavia

High pressure lies to the west of Europe, promoting a warm continental airflow across south-western regions. Scorching temperatures again for Iberia, into the mid-40s Celsius in Portugal and south-west Spain. Lots of dry weather across the continent, but a scattering of thunderstorms. The most organised storms focused on the western Alps by afternoon. Temperatures widely into the 30s Celsius for France, Germany and the Low Countries, although somewhat cooler near the English Channel and North Sea. Broadly dry for south-eastern Europe. A few thunderstorms for eastern Poland and northern Ukraine. Fairly unsettled for Scandinavia, with areas of rain or thunder for central Norway and Sweden, and windy in southern areas, including Denmark. Warm in southern Sweden, 25 to 28C. Fresher toward the north & west. Showers for the Baltic states.


Sunday
High pressure remains across north-western Europe. Hot and sunny again for France, Spain and Portugal. Topping 40C for south-western Iberia, and widely into the mid-30s across central European countries. Less hot for the Low Countries and northern Germany, 25 to 28C, with a breeze from the North Sea. Thundery for Alpine regions, and also into Slovakia, plus the south & east of Poland. Isolated thunderstorms for southern Italy and the Mediterranean islands. Sunny for Greece , highs 29 to 32C. Lots of dry weather for the Balkans and areas surrounding the Black Sea. Low pressure resides over north-west Russia. Showery for the Baltic states, and some rain affects northern Scandinavia. Fresher across northern Europe; bright and breezy for southern Norway and Denmark.
